Glasgow Airport breaks January flight record

February 15, 2017 // 11:42 am Glasgow Airport

The start of 2017 saw the highest amount of traffic yet passing through Scotland’s second largest airport. With rising demand for more international services – met with new routes to New York, Dubai and Toronto, Glasgow has seen a traffic increase of 8.4% to nearly 600,000 passengers!

Meanwhile Scotland’s busiest airport, Edinburgh, has also experienced a record breaking increase with an impressive 11.6% increase in international traffic over January.

However, Glasgow Airport has also made recent headlines with plans being introduced to charge motorists and taxi drivers a £2 drop-off charge for a 10 minute stay. Proposed as a method of reducing congestion many have taken issue with the charge and a petition has now gained over 7000 signatures in protest.

At City Cars we want to be able to be able to continue offering our airport rates at the lowest possible flat rate prices – see them here or call 0141 959 1212 to book your airport transfer.
